Numark NS7 Overview:

The Numark NS7 represents the ultimate in a DJ software controller.

Numark collaborated with the DJ software company “Serato” as a DJ controller for their “Serato Itch” DJ software.

Itch is compatible with Serato Scratch LIVE crates, loops, and cue points so you can load them right into Itch.

The unit is all metal and weighs in at about 35 pounds, very sturdy. You really feel like you’ve got your moneys worth with this unit. It is a beautiful piece of equipment, truly a work of art.

The Numark NS7 includes:

Its two turntables have adjustable direct drive, two speed torque motors, giving you a modern & a Classic setting. The aluminum platters have real slipmats and vinyl for the feel of a real vinyl turntable. Seven-inch, vinyl records with 45RPM adapters ride on real slipmats.

As you can see from the top view of the unit, the Numark NS7 has A full set of faders, buttons and knobs. It also has a neat new virtual-needle-drop feature they call “Strip Search” , a touch sensitive strip that lets you locate a cue point in a track with your finger and drop the virtual needle there via the Serato ITCH software. The numark NS7 controller is MIDI based but runs the software more than ten times faster than standard MIDI resolution. It works with both Mac or PC.

All the knobs & buttons have a nice rubberized coating giving it a nice tactile feel. The NS7 uses their CP-PRO crossfader and D-TYPE line faders. These are very high quality & should provide a long life. The feel is solid, smooth and rigid. Both the crossfader and the line faders are replaceable.

The unit lights up like a christmas tree with more than 100 LEDs giving you lots of visual feedback. There are more than 100 hands on controls as well.

The system connects to your Mac or PC via USB Cable and has a 4 channel 24 bit audio system built in. It has a Mic & RCA line input & 1/4″ & 1/8″ headphone jacks and comes with a laptop stand. Their are five hot-cue buttons that can be assigned on each deck to mark your cue points. Serato-style loop section is provided on each deck for creative remixing.

It has both manual and auto-loop functions as well as an automatic BPM analyzer for looping. Easily create smart loops and modify to your heart’s content with numerous controls like Doubling, Halving, Shift, and manual controls. Multiple loop banks per deck make it great for scratch and club DJs alike. It also has smooth, stiff pitch sliders and plus and minus buttons for Beat matching.

Functionally the Numark NS7 is hard to beat, not to mention the fact that it is a beautiful piece of tech art. The controls are supurb and its integration with The Serato Itch assures it works well with the software.

RECOMMENDATION: You Might want to try the full version or Numark Cue Professional software for a more complete Numark Mixdeck DJ software.

ISSUES: We have seen some reports of people that were not happy with the Serato Itch software but that was from users of Serato Scratch Live. We take those comments in stride since once you are used to a system, transistioning to a new one takes some time.

There have been some reports of tech support issues but thats another animal altogether, as far as the product goes this is a state of the art DJ system for the professional DJ or anyone who is serious about the art of the DJ and prefers elite equipment. Highly recommended.
