NUMARK iBATTLEPACK OVERVIEW

The Numark iBattlepack is an entry level DJ package, nearly identical to the numark DJ in a Box system but with a pair of direct-drive turntables and an ipod dock.

The Numark TT1625 Turntables have aluminum platters and the speed (pitch) is adjustable (+-10%). It comes with slipmats, cartidges and cables. 33/45 RPM speeds, and dual start/stop buttons.

This system uses the iM1 mixer unit which contains an ipod/iphone dock who’s claim to fame is being the world’s first DJ mixer that lets you record your mixes to your ipod or iphone. If you are looking for beginner dj equipment the ibattlepack is a good place to start.

The iBattlePack iM1 mixer has two channels, shared with whatever two devices are selected at the moment,any turntable/ipod or attached cd player combination. You can record tracks to your iPod from the turntables or external devices.

The mixer provides typical controls such as acrossfader and upfaders as well as bass & trebble &EQ controls. There are ipod volume controls and the ability to scroll through the ipods playlists.

On the front of the batttlepack mixer in a jack for the HF125 DJ headphones that come standard with the im1 and a mic jack. The rear of the unit has inputs for the two channels to which the turntables, or external cd can be connected.

There are also outputs for connecting the Numark iBattlePack to an external sound system. The battlepack comes with slipmats,cartidges and all thecables needed.

This is entry level, but quality equipment which could be outgrown quickly but is still more than adequate for the new or occasional DJ.

The iBattlePack is a nicely built unit with a great look. The turntables work nicely and the mixer controls are solid and operate smoothly The addition of the ipod dock to this unit to the Numark iBattlePack updates the original battlepack unit and adds more performance flexibility.

Again, this is beginner dj equipment not intended for heavy professional.

RECOMMENDATION: If you want a beginner package that can record to iPod or just have some vinyl you want to get onto digital this is getting pretty good reviews on the forums.

ISSUES: We haven’t heard anything particlularly negative and the direct drive turntables give you more precision that the belt driven DJ in a Box turntables.
